A Guided Meditation to Calm Anxiety

Laurentine ten Bosch LAURENTINE TEN BOSCH

I don't know about you but last week I felt so out of control for me! I got caught in a rut. In a vicious cycle of worry, confusion and overwhelm. Life can be stressful and overwhelming at the moment. If you have kids or are working from home, it can be even harder. We all need tools to help us relax right now, but relaxing may feel impossible. It can seem hard to meditate or calm your mind, especially in a time of crisis.

Each day you have the power to shift your state and reality. However, for most people, their morning begins the same way it usually does, by being triggered almost immediately into a subconscious cycle. They pull out their phone, go through their apps, get out of bed, and then go about their day. I caught myself doing this too and I knew it was not serving me. Seeing the news and everyone's reaction to it on my Instagram feed was making me more anxious, like being on an emotional rollercoaster.

I knew I had to change and get out of this so-called survival mode of life.

I thought to myself if I'm feeling this, there must be others in our Food Matters community that are feeling like this. So I decided to film this 13 minute guided meditation for you, so we can do this together.

Right now this meditation practice is the most important thing I do every day. It keeps me calm, healthy, and grateful. I hope it will allow you to feel the same.

I know that even in the best of times meditation can feel daunting. You might think you can’t possibly shut down your thoughts, that you don’t have enough time to practice, or that your fear is too strong to even sit still. I’m here to help you with this. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been meditating for years or are a complete beginner. I’ve got your back.

Awareness and internal reflection are so good for your overall health. Studies have shown that practicing mindfulness on a regular basis can reduce cortisol levels and help elevate our stress response. It also activates flow state which is proven to harness creativity and concentration.

Most importantly, it's a great form of visualization and tapping into the collective consciousness to visualize a better world, which is something delve deeper in our latest docu-series Transcendence 2. If you haven't seen the trailer yet, you can do so here and save your spot to watch the free screening next week.

Here are some of the benefits of this guided meditation:

  • Detox your mind of negative thoughts and emotions,
  • Transcend fear and anxiety,
  • Quiet the monkey mind and internal chatter,
  • Recharge your self on all levels,
  • Form a great daily spiritual practice,
  • Fill your heart with gratitude and abundance,
  • And together we can visualize a better tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy this practice.

with love, Laurentine
